Excursions

Boca del Diablo

Boca del Diablo means “mouth of the devil.” Finding it is a little adventure. Turn RIGHT off the Samana road just before the left turn that is signed for Playa Rincon. The road to your destination is very scenic, passing green pastures and towering rock formations. Boca del Diablo is the biggest blowhole on Samana. If the sea is rough you will see spray, but some days you can just feel the air gushing out. Once you hear it you will know why it is called the mouth of the devil.

ATV / Quad tours to the beach!

Quad excursions are exciting. No experience necessary. You can take a tour to the beach and enjoy a cool swim, then travel through the countryside stopping to feast on a typical Dominican meal of fish & chicken, rice & beans, salad, french fries or fried plantains

Breathtaking Beaches

Playa Las Ballenas

Playa Punta Poppy is the main beach of Las Terrenas, the most popular for tourists and Dominicans because it is the nearest beach and because it offers the services and entertainment opportunities. One can find many businesses like restaurants, bars, etc. where you can enjoy local fare and fresh fish, as well as an array of places to dance Bachata and Merengue. One can also enjoy activities such as Bocce Ball, windsurfing, or diving centres. Whatever you like, you can find it here!

Playa Bonita

This beach, about 10 minutes away (nearby), is one of the less-visited (at the moment) and least contaminated beaches by man. It is a true corner of paradise where tranquility and calm reign, where one may hear the soothing waves and birds singing while lying on the shore. From here you can arrive to Punta Bonita and its super crystalline waters forming a natural pool thanks to the surrounding barrier reef. Playa Bonita is considered the best beach of Las Terrenas. There is no barrier reef thus favoring the choppy seas great for enjoying many water activities like surf or Kite-surf, while on the other side the barrier reef forms an authentic natural swimming pool of crystalline clear waters.

Playa Coson

At about a 20 minute walk away you will arrive to Playa Coson beach, even more isolated and wild, where one can truly appreciate the beauty of the marine landscape alongside the Caribbean vegetation. There are very few restaurants offering fresh fish served Dominican style. A stroll along the evocative coastline offers a breathtaking Caribbean landscape view.

Playa Las Ballenas

Playa Las Ballenas – a pristine stretch of shoreline dotted with swaying palms and nearly deserted sands- Las Ballenas is the quintessential paradise location. Named after the whales that mate just off the shoreline, come to one of the Dominican’s best beaches to experience unbeatable scenery, crystal clear waters and a hassle free day.

Playa Rincon

Playa Rincón is considered one of the top beaches in the Caribbean. At the far right end is a sheltered area where you can snorkel. At the other end, cliffs tower over the turquoise water of an ice-cold river that runs down from the mountains and forms a splash pool. There are no facilities per se, but local ladies will sell you lobster and fish in coconut sauce with rice, and other creole dishes. You can reach Playa Rincón by boat (from Las Galeras) or by car. Driving takes about 50 minutes from Monte Placido. It is not far, but once you leave the main road it is bumpy and slow going down to the beach.

Playa Moron

The most remote beach of Las Terrenas, about 20 kilometers away, completely isolated and pristine. At Playa Moron, the landscape is absolutely beautiful and is without a doubt worth the effort. Upon arrival you encounter an open stretch of lawn after which you come upon a marvelous beach surrounded by palms and other exotic plants. The open sea is always agitated but always clean and clear. Thanks to its beauty, this natural bay has used in many cinema film sets
